About The Greengrocer’s Wife
Welcome — I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m Donna, a mother of twelve children, ages 24 down to 2 years. I am wife to my organic greengrocer hubby, and the heart behind The Greengrocer’s Wife. I want to share with you my passion for Raw Organic Living — a way of life shaped by real food, natural rhythms, and the belief that nourishment begins long before it reaches the plate.
My husband has been an organic greengrocer for over 25 years, and living and working alongside him has profoundly shaped how I understand health. I’ve seen firsthand that vitality comes from the soil up — from how our food is grown, harvested, stored, prepared, & of course, enjoyed. This philosophy also flows into everything we do at home.
We homeschool our children, and this is where learning happens simply through living — in the kitchen, the garden, with our backyard bees, and through the everyday rhythms of family life. Education isn’t separated from nourishment; it’s embedded in it.
I cook almost everything from scratch, using whole, seasonal ingredients and traditional methods. Raw where possible, slow where needed. You’ll find recipes for nourishing family meals, simple staples, juices, ferments, sourdough, food preservation, and real food made the way it was always meant to be — to sustain, strengthen, celebrate and connect.
As a student herbalist in Western Herbal Medicine, herbs are woven gently through our home as both food and medicine — grown, gathered, and used with respect. Alongside this is a commitment to natural living: low-toxic choices, mindful homemaking, and caring for our bodies and home with intention.
Bees, seeds, soil health, and seasonal preserving are not just hobbies here — they are part of daily life. The Greengrocer’s Wife isn’t about perfection or aesthetics; it’s about practical nourishment, generational wisdom, and living in alignment with creation.
This space exists to share what has worked for our family — and what I’m still learning — as we live out Raw Organic Living in a modern world.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope enjoy your time at my table!
